We spend so much time and money trying to get that perfect bronzed look---whether it's at the beach, slathering on self-tanner at home or going to the salon to get sprayed by a professional. The most frustrating thing {ever!} is when you start to see it disappear, especially if it's streaky. With these five quick tips, you can literally double the lifespan of your tan---real or faux {both real and fake tans should last approximately the same amount of time}.

1/ Exfoliate Before Sun Exposure Or Applying Self-Tanner Exfoliating preps your skin by reducing dryness and flakiness. This will help you develop a deeper, longer-lasting tan. Use a loofah, sponge or wash cloth to exfoliate.

2/ Moisturize, Moisturize And Moisturize! Although any good moisturizing cream is better than nothing, it's best to use one developed to enhance your tan like St.Tropez Tan Optimiser Body Moisturizer {$15, Sttropeztan.com} which is full of active ingredients that help you get a natural-looking, even tan. After exfoliating, apply moisturizing cream all over your body, and don't forget dry spots like elbows, hands, knees, ankles and feet.

3/ Shower Rules Avoid using a loofah or sponge in the shower which can cause fading, and also avoid soap-based body washes. Instead, opt for an oil-based product like Eucerin Calming Body Wash Daily Shower Oil {$6.50, Drugstore.com}. Long hot showers or baths can also cause fading so keep them short and sweet!

4/ Hair Removal Do all of your shaving and waxing before tanning.

5/ Sunscreen Not only is sunscreen 100% necessary {we recommend nothing less than an SPF 30 at all times!} to help avoid burning, it also can help your tan last longer. A waterproof sunscreen applied over a fake tan will help prevent fading when outside or at the beach. Always, ALWAYS apply sunscreen whenever you're out in the sun---it's the world best anti-aging cream!

Travel Beauty :: Nicole's Picks

[trip style = any]

{Want more travel beauty? Get your fill the third Wednesday of every month. Lauren, our travel beauty expert, is already whipping up her next concoction post!}

This month we asked our very own Jetset Jingles editor, Nicole {pictured above in Dubai's Souk Madinat Jumeirah Market} about her travel beauty faves. Read about her exotic picks below!

TS: You're stranded on a deserted island and get to have one makeup product, one skincare product and one body care product with you---what would those be? Nicole: The one makeup product I can't leave home without is Lancome's Maquicomplet Concealer, which covers absolutely everything and is super creamy so your skin looks naturally smooth. Even on a desert island, I'd want to look that flawless! As far as a skincare product, I'd have to say my Phytomer Rosee Visage Cleansing Toner, which makes me feel so fresh and clean. My favorite everyday body care product is Aveeno Positively Nourishing Calming Body Lotion in Vanilla Chamomile---it's soothing for dry skin and has a very light scent.

TS: What is your travel beauty routine when flying? Nicole: I tend to not wear much makeup on flights and stick to a touch of Korres Zea Mays Blush in Peach, MAC Eyeshadow in Arena, Diorshow Mascara and Aveeno Essential Moisture Lip Conditioner with SPF 15. Each of those products are light, natural-looking and don't irritate my skin. I can't board a plane without a travel-sized hand lotion to keep my hands moisturized, and my favorite is L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream. I also need a bottle of water, and if it's a long flight, a sleep mask.

TS: When on vacation, what is your skincare and haircare routine? Nicole: I don't deviate from my normal skin and haircare routine, I just bring everything I need in smaller-sized, travel-friendly containers. I feel and look my best when I have everything with me that I usually use. I don't leave home without my Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, Phytomer Toner, Dermalogica Solar Defense For Sensitive Skin with SPF 30 {for day} and Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream {for night}. I don't always love the brands of haircare that the hotels provide, so I take my Alterna Bamboo Shine On-The-Go Travel Kit.

TS: Any cool beauty purchases that you've discovered on your travels around the globe? Nicole: My sister spent her honeymoon in the Maldives and brought me back an incredible body lotion from the hotel spa {pictured above} called Angsana Pure Gold Body Lotion. It's lightweight with flecks of gold that add the perfect amount of shimmer. I love wearing it on a night out! I also love the Kajal Kohl Eyeliner I found in Dubai---it lasts longer than anything I've ever tried.

Travel Beauty :: In-Flight Miracle Masks

[trip style = any]

{Want more travel beauty? Get your fill the third Wednesday of every month. Lauren, our travel beauty expert, is already whipping up her next concoction post!}

Most of us don't have an extra 20 minutes to apply a face mask each week, although the benefits of face masks can be HUGE. What better time to pamper your complexion than on a plane---you have the time and with the ultra-dry plane air, your skin could definitely use a boost. Here are my current two favorite masks; I hope you take the time to beautify in-flight soon!

{Trip Styler Tip :: wear these masks while everyone is sleeping and the plane's lights are off. You'll be the only one who wakes up looking refreshed.}

SK-II Facial Treatment Mask, $90 {for six masks} The price tag is steep for six applications, but each mask is drenched in a rare SK-II exclusive yeast complex called Pitera---an ingredient discovered in an Asian sake brewery. The workers, who handled this yeast daily, had the ultra-soft, youthful hands! So, the cost is well worth it! The 100% cotton mask is pre-cut to fit the face and all you need to do is press the damp mask onto your skin and relax for 20 minutes. After just one treatment, your skin feels tight, soft, replenished and overall healthier. Walk down the jetway like you've just had a facial in the sky!

Chantecaille Jasmine and Lily Healing Mask, $79 I love Chantecaille and stumbled upon this mask while browsing the beauty department at Bergdorfs. With a calming blend of rose water, chamomile, lily and Vitamin B5, this mask is soothing and helps reduce redness, inflammation and irritation. No need to make a mad dash to the plane's lavatory 15 minutes before landing, add a pop of lip gloss and leave it on your face until you get to your hotel! It smells so fresh and leaves your skin dewy and radiant---just the way you want to look when deplaning!

Travel Beauty :: Q&A With OPI's Founder

[trip style = any]

{Editor's Note :: Between chipping nail polish on your suitcase handles or nicking nails on hotel elevator buttons, YOU know, I know and YOUR MOM knows it's hard to keep painted nails looking like the hood of a mint-condition, 1966 red Alfa Romeo 1600 Spider Duetto on the road. That's why we're really excited for Lauren, our travel beauty columnist, to snag an EXCLUSIVE interview with OPI's founder about their best product and polish colors for jetsetters.}

This week I was lucky enough to talk nails and travel with Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Founder, Executive VP & Artistic Director. Ps - "Cajun Shrimp" is my all-time favorite pedicure shade, keep reading to get inspired! - Lauren, Travel Beauty

What was the inspiration behind GelColor? GelColor is a great match for today’s woman and her fast-paced lifestyle. The salon-service manicures and pedicures are long-lasting and chip-resistant {yay, perfect for travel!}, with OPI’s highest shine to date. It's easily removed at the salon in 15 minutes with individual soak-off sleeves, without nail or cuticle damage.

Any tips to keeping your gel manicure looking perfect while traveling? The great thing about GelColor is that no maintenance is required! However, I always recommend using a cuticle oil like OPI’s Cuticle Oil To Go to keep your fingers looking as nice as your manicure.

What colors do you recommend for the following trip styles? [trip style = beach] - I suggest wearing a bright color on both fingers and toes---after all, you’re on vacation! Try a bright pink like GelColor by OPI in Pink Flamenco on toes, and the coral-hued GelColor by OPI in Cajun Shrimp on fingers.

[trip style = urban] - For a city trip, try wearing a bold, statement teal blue like GelColor by OPI in Suzi Says Feng Shui on short nails. This color works well when paired with a trendy neutral, like GelColor by OPI in You Don’t Know Jacques!, on toes.

[trip style = sightseeing] - Wear a rich, plum hue like GelColor by OPI in Bastille My Heart on toes; pair this color with a complementary dark purple like GelColor by OPI in Lincoln Park After Dark on fingers.

What are your go-to, pre-vacation shades? Some of my favorite GelColor shades for vacation include Malaga Wine, Lincoln Park After Dark and A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find.

PS - How do you come up with your fabulous color names? --> All OPI lacquers are named by a team of six, who go behind closed doors to brainstorm. We even order food and bring in props and images for inspiration, while channeling each other’s creativity to come up with unique and interesting names for each collection.

Travel Beauty :: Heather's Picks

[trip style = any]

{Want more travel beauty? Get your fill the third Wednesday of every month. Lauren, our travel beauty expert, is already whipping up her next concoction post!}

This month we asked our very own Fashion Friday editor about her travel beauty favorites. Check out what Heather has to say. We'll also be featuring other TS editors' preferred products in the coming months, so stay tuned.

What are your 3 favorite travel-friendly beauty products?
1/ I swear by a facial sunscreen that I heard about in a Trip Styler Travel Beauty post over a year ago: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Daily Sun Protection SPF 55. I put it on before my make-up and reapply it throughout the day. This sunscreen protects my fairer than fair skin.

2/ Malin+Goetz makes a great travel kit that's both male and female friendly and includes sensitive-skin face cleanser, face moisturizer, shampoo, conditioner, body cleanser and body moisturizer.

3/ I love Giovanni's individually wrapped sanitizing towelettes. They have many uses while traveling, plus they smell fantastic. I love the mixed bag of grapefruit, peppermint and lavender towelettes. So refreshing!

{Heather's tip: As you sweat in the sweltering sun, your sunscreen has a tendency to trickle under your sunglasses and into your eyes. Ouch! Remember to keep it away from your eye area during application.}

What beauty routine do you follow while on vacation?
I'm a fan of the five-minute face. On a warm-weather vacation, I make it a three-minute face, always using SPF 30+ sunscreen as the base, followed by mineral powder. No need for primping your peepers, as they'll be covered by sunnies. I'm also a fan of the top knot and the scarf turban to keep my hair out of the way. On an urban or cold-weather vacation, a hat does wonders for frizzy or unwashed hair and a pulled-together look---applies to guys too!

{Heather's tip: Check out this simple how-to video on tying your own scarf turban.}

Do you do anything in flight to stay beautified?
On a long flight, just before descent, I always brush my teeth, spritz my face with Caudalie Beauty Elixir and apply lip gloss and Laura Mercier Translucent Mineral Powder to make me feel clean, refreshed and ready for public view. Plus a little blush and deodorant never did anyone any harm, right?
